This project was created under the bachelor degree of graphic design at sae institute.

In this project, I developed a motion graphics animation combined with audio and mixed media to create a sonic branding experience. The design is specifically tailored for platforms such as Spotify and YouTube. I began by focusing on the audio, allowing its dynamics and mood to shape the direction of the animation. This approach ensured a cohesive blend of sound and visuals.
For the visualizer/Spotify Canvas, I selected "Bad Boy" by Juice WRLD. The unique elements from the music video served as a major source of inspiration, influencing the overall creative direction of my visualizer.
The visualizer integrates various techniques, showcasing a mix of artistic styles. I have also included references below, detailing the specific techniques that inspired my work.

I chose "Bad Boy" by Juice WRLD to create a visualizer/Spotify Canvas because Juice WRLD is one of my favorite artists, and the music video for this track stands out to me. Its unique effects and styles provided inspiration for my visualizer design.
While searching for inspiration for my visualizer, I became fascinated by mixed media effects. A key influence was an A$AP Rocky video for PacSun, which featured mixed media elements. This video became a major inspiration for my project.
Another video that helped me understand mixed media was by Stonie Blue, where he demonstrated the process of creating his own music visualizer by hand. It was an insightful tutorial that gave me ideas on how to implement mixed media effects, which I later applied to my own visualizer/Spotify Canvas.
While working on my visualizer/Spotify Canvas, I realized I didn't want to rely solely on mixed media effects. To diversify the design, I incorporated an infinite zoom effect inspired by the music video for Lil Tecca's "Bossanova," created by Omar Jones. This effect, which can be achieved using After Effects, added depth and a dynamic visual element to my project.
In the visualizer/Spotify Canvas, I added the title and artist's name, with the text appearing in various styles and changing rapidly to match the fast-paced motion of the visuals. This concept was inspired by the music video for the song I selected.
The title and artist's name text were designed in Photoshop, where I used different fonts for each letter and incorporated various lines and shapes behind the text for a more creative look. I then brought the design into After Effects, where I applied the tint effect to color the text red. Additional effects, such as glow and noise, were added to further enhance the visual impact.
To achieve a raw effect for the mixed media sequence, I created the effect by hand. First, I printed each frame from the video where the artist puts on the glasses. To streamline the process, rather than taking screenshots of each frame in Adobe Premiere, I imported the video into Photoshop, which allowed me to extract the frames efficiently. Once extracted, I laid the frames out on A4 paper and printed them.
After printing the frames, I tore sections of the paper, applied a red filter, and then pasted pieces onto different frames using a glue stick. I also drew lines on each frame with a pen and added additional effects using colored pencils. Once these effects were applied to all the frames, I scanned them back into my Mac and imported them into After Effects for further editing.
